brings together internationally renowned designers, artists &amp; creative icons. For 2019, their theme and our brief was Truth.We wanted to explore the inherent untruths of design to highlight the role it plays in the global “fake news” reality of 2019. The promise of an elevated life, or truth, through consuming does not always lead to one. More often than not, it only adds to the confusion of what’s genuine.&nbsp; “What is truth?” led us down a dark path of skewed realities, false narratives and untruths being sold through everyday media. Guests entered into a fully stocked End of the World Mart complete with slushees, snacks and even toilet paper. Chef Peter Cho created artistic delectable corner store snacks from high-end cup-o-noodles to chili served inside chip bags. A vintage van with treats, a disco ball/cd filled light installation, a 25-foot projection mapped floating sphere, and neon lit grocery cart moving bars helped bring that Christmas cheer. Bonus holiday emotions, all groceries were bought specifically to donate to the Oregon Food Bank and the takeaways were unique corner store gift bags. While working on the Nike Global Basketball Concept team I was given the chance to design a uniform for the Houston Rockets to celebrate the Lunar Chinese New Year. As a first generation American born to a family of Chinese immigrants, this was such an incredible honor and privilege. The design reimagines the vintage Rocket's logo as a fire-breathing rocket/dragon, with hidden details that includes the word luck (as seen on the jacket), an ancient Chinese cloud pattern representing mobility and a nod to the mandarin collar. They wanted to create a destination beach trip that artistically enhanced the experience for their guests on top of their enhanced experience. I worked with Party Animal (production team) to design and produce an experience that came complete with a chill zone bathed in calming lights and tactile sensory play.
